Origin of Reiki

The founder, Japanese Mikao Usui (1865–1926), developed what he called “Usui Reiki Ryoho.” He originally created this system as a spiritual path toward happiness, harmony, and enlightenment. “Rei” means universal, and “ki” means life energy. “Ryoho” translates as therapy or method of healing.
